What Does a Writing Coach Do?
At Get Me Into College, our writing coaches play a vital role in helping students craft powerful and authentic college essays. They work one-on-one with students to brainstorm ideas, develop outlines, and provide thoughtful feedback on personal statements and supplemental essays. Their goal is to help each student express their unique voice and experiences in a way that resonates with admissions officers.
Writing coaches understand what colleges are looking for and guide students in shaping essays that highlight individuality, character, and personal growth. While they never write essays for students, they serve as ethical mentors, supporting brainstorming, revisions, and reflection to ensure the final product is truly the student’s own.
Beyond college applications, our coaches help students strengthen their overall writing skills, offering support with structure, clarity, and tone. They also help students stay organized and on track with deadlines, reducing stress and making the essay process more manageable and rewarding.

Director of Operations
Diane Shulman, Director of Operations at Get Me In College, works closely with Jenna to ensure smooth daily operations. Her responsibilities include payroll, financial records, personnel data, and data management. With over 25 years of experience and degrees in Business Administration, Elementary Education, and an MA in Education, Diane brings valuable expertise in education and management.
Francine O’Connor
College Essay Editor
With over 37 years in education, Francine O’Connor has excelled as a high school resource teacher, English teacher, and Learning Consultant (LDTC). She recently retired and now works as a college essay editor at Get Me Into College. Drawing on her extensive experience, she provides guidance on brainstorming and refining college essays. She holds a Master of Education with LDT-C and Supervisor certifications and was recognized with the 2015-2016 Governor’s Educator of the Year Award.
Karen Massa

Karen Massa, a retired high school English teacher with nearly 30 years of experience, joins Get Me Into College as a college essay editor. Known for guiding students to craft compelling, authentic admissions essays, Karen refines the essay process with a hands-on approach. Her education includes a business degree, a degree in education, and an MEd from Montclair State University. Karen's expertise in writing and editing helps students perfect their essays.
