Evan Gerstein, M.Ed.
College Counselor
Former University of Michigan admissions counselor offering expert guidance through every stage of the college admissions process
Evan Gerstein brings extensive experience as an independent college counselor and former admissions professional to Jenna’s expanding team. He provides invaluable guidance and support throughout the college admissions process, helping students manage deadlines, approach college selection with an open mind, and navigate each stage of the journey with confidence.
In addition to working with clients, Evan is completing his Doctorate of Education at Vanderbilt University, where he focuses on higher education leadership and policy. Passionate about expanding access to post-secondary education, Evan views college as one of the most important decisions in a student’s academic journey. Inspired by his own positive experience working with an independent counselor in high school, he is dedicated to helping students and families make informed, confident choices.
Before joining Jenna’s team, Evan served as an admissions counselor in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at the University of Michigan where he reviewed applications for students across Illinois and parts of Michigan. He later earned his Master of Education in Higher Education from Vanderbilt University while working as a post-baccalaureate and graduate school admissions coach, helping students apply to graduate programs and prestigious scholarships including Rhodes, Marshall, Truman, and Fulbright.
Following his M.Ed., Evan worked in graduate student recruitment and admissions for the Kelley School of Business before relocating to Chicago, where he currently resides. He is an active member of several college counseling organizations, including the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA) and the Illinois Association for College Admission Counseling (IACAC).
