Karissa Handler

Karissa Handler is a dedicated New Jersey school counselor with nearly seven years of experience guiding high school students through academic, social, and career development. Before entering education, she worked in family services and as a publicist in New York City, experiences that strengthened her communication and writing skills.

Since 2022, Karissa has been part of the Get Me Into College team, supporting students nationwide through the college application and essay process. She combines her counseling expertise with her strong writing background to help students present their most authentic and compelling selves to admissions committees.

Karissa is highly proficient in platforms such as Naviance, Scoir, PowerSchool, and Genesis, and values building meaningful relationships with students and families throughout the admissions journey.

She holds a B.A. in Journalism and Professional Writing from The College of New Jersey, an M.A. in School Counseling from Montclair State University, and a certificate from Columbia University’s College Advisement Program.
